Estate planning. Sounds dry and boring doesn’t it? Wouldn’t you rather go get some dental work done? Maybe put it off for awhile… Or maybe not. We all want to make sure that the people we love are cared for and protected. This includes being sure that they receive the property and funds that you have set aside for them, whether it’s ten grand or ten million.

There are several roadblocks that may present themselves, but don’t let them stop you. Here’s three that we see with many of our clients:

  1. Talking About Death Stinks – I mean, who really enjoys a good discussion on sickness, incapacity, and eventual death? It’s one of those topics right up there with politics and sports that many families simply avoid discussing. This is normal. But, it is much better to have a few uncomfortable moments of conversation and be sure that your loved ones are provided for than face the alternative.
  2. Now Is Not a Great Time – Timing is everything. With all we have going on in the world, it can be hard to find just the right time or to squeeze in the time to have the discussions it takes to complete your estate plan. However, we are very good at helping you find that time. And really, it’s like ripping off a bandaid. Make the time, get it done, and you will find that it was much easier and took less time than you may have realized.
  3.  I Just Don’t Understand – Estate planning can involve many moving parts. Finances are combed over, family details are covered, the law is discussed in depth at times, and diagrams may even be required. You are not off base to think that you could be unfamiliar with the jargon and topics being covered. However, it’s important to remember that you are NOT alone in this. We are right here for you to help translate everything into terms you can understand and to help you be sure that your wishes are being seen to by helping you understand the process from start to finish.

While many people get cold feet when it comes to getting their estate planning squared away, the truth is that it is typically neither tedious nor painful for most clients. As a matter of fact, we pride ourselves on helping making the process as simple for you as we can. We will cover any concerns you may have, help you identify your goals, make sure that your familial and financial decisions work within your plan, and help you solidify an estate plan that is right for you and your loved ones. You bring the information needed to the table, and we will help take care of the rest.

Given all we’ve seen going on in the world today, there’s not time like the present to get started on the estate planning process. It’s time to warm up those feet and get the ball rolling. Give us a call or Contact Us to set up your consultation today.
